Overview

Positive East was ready for a website refresh. Their last major update had been five years earlier, and their style had since evolved. They also supported numerous projects and resources, so they needed a better way to showcase their work and keep users informed.

The new website needed to be user-friendly, engaging, and easy for the team to maintain independently.

The Challenge

The existing website had become outdated and difficult to manage. Content updates were not as intuitive as they needed to be, making it harder for the team to keep resources up to date. Additionally, the design no longer reflected Positive East’s evolving brand identity, and users found it challenging to navigate the growing number of projects and services they offered.

To better serve their community, they needed a modern, flexible website that was visually engaging, easy to update, and structured to improve user experience.

Solution

Our designer worked closely with Positive East’s project manager to create a bespoke theme that reflected their evolving brand. We introduced brighter colours to bring more energy to the site and adopted a more editorial style for the information pages.

Positive East has a lot of ongoing projects, so their content had grown. We created a site map at the start of the project and identified and tracked content to edit and restructure. This was aided by feedback from focus groups ran by Positive East to find out what content real service users wanted to highlight. We came up with a new site structure that emphasised finding resources quickly.

We developed and deployed a custom Elementor theme on a WordPress platform, making it easier for the team to update content without technical expertise.

At the end of the project, our developer provided training on how to update and manage site changes independently. Our team also continued to support them with ongoing template adjustments to ensure the website remained just right.

Results

The website was made live in 2024. The site was easier to navigate and had up-to-date information and a style that matched Positive East’s identity.

Sexual health information hub

Positive East delivers critical support for people living with HIV in East London. They also are an important resource for sexual health information and provide free STI testing if you’re local.

They needed an easy way to organise a lot of information on their site. We worked with them to create a new information hub. This dynamic content can be sorted by major categories, quickly updated by their own team, and still highlights the most important info at the top.

“We cannot be more pleased with the support Japeto provides Positive East. Always thoughtful, always professional and always providing high level of service. We can’t recommend them enough.”
Ian, Positive East
