Celebrating the UK AIDS Quilt
AIDS Quilt UK is part of the largest community arts project in history. The organisation helps to remember and celebrate the lives lost to HIV.
The organisation has taken care of and displayed the historical UK AIDS Quilt, but they needed an updated website that was easy to navigate and browse every panel.
Solution
AIDS Quilt UK had an existing site, so we started with a site audit to work out what content needed to stay, needed to be fleshed out, and what should be removed.
Our designer did requirements gathering with the client and put together designs for the new site. We put together new graphics that matched their asthetic, including bold graphic quilt themed graphics.
Our WordPress developer set up a new site and designed a custom theme, just for AIDS Quilt.
Collaborating with Google Arts & Culture
Google Arts & Culture helps to preserve high quality digital copies of artwork. They work with the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt to take high resolution photos of each panel, plus capture an incredible history of stories from the AIDS epidemic that have been safeguarded by the organisation since the 1980s.
We worked with the Google Arts & Culture team to embed their hosted images into the website so the high-resolution images can be viewed and zoomed in on the website.
We developed a template so we could connect the names and description for each quilt.
